The former industrial area of Pukkila in Turku is evolving into a vibrant neighbourhood of 3,000 residents, with new rental apartments taking shape. Construction is currently in full swing within the zoning plan approved in 2020. At the start of the year, Pukkila had seven completed residential buildings, and a new park was just recently opened.

At the end of February, Joo Group’s newly built apartment complex, As Oy Turun Huoleton, will be completed with 124 Joo Kodit rental homes to the area. The apartments are available for both private and corporate tenants, either furnished or unfurnished.

Pukkila wins on location and services

Joo Kodit rental representative Elias Rosenberg says he's heard very positive feedback on the area in apartment viewings.

– Many have commented on how all the essential services are just around the corner in Pukkila. The nearby Manhattan shopping centre even offers extensive fitness facilities. Additionally, Turun Huoleton’s distinctive interior finishes and complimentary gym access have sparked a lot of interest.

The apartment complex also offers a variety of services, including a sauna, laundry room, a shared car, and Joo Fixer, providing free assistance for putting up residents' mirrors, paintings, and ceiling lights.

Turun Huoleton aims for LEED Platinum sustainability certification

Turun Huoleton is targeting the highest level of the internationally recognised LEED environmental certification system, LEED Platinum. Achieving this prestigious certification requires a comprehensive approach to high-quality design and construction, including cutting-edge energy solutions. The building, which has the energy-efficiency rating A, utilises solar power, while its electric vehicle charging points feature technology that enables participation in demand response electricity management.

– The LEED Platinum certification will also bring tangible benefits to the residents, such as excellent indoor air quality, plentiful natural light, and superior acoustics. Water-saving fixtures allow tenants to reduce their water bills. While the highest certification level alone won’t solve all environmental challenges, it’s certainly a step in the right direction. As an industry and as a society, we still have work to do, and we’re committed to playing our part, says the Joo Group CEO Antti Niskanen.

Turun Huoleton has been designed by Haroma & Partners and built by Aura Rakennus Länsi-Suomi.

– It has been a privilege and a meaningful experience to collaborate with Joo Group, whose sustainability goals align with our own commitment to developing high-quality, eco-friendly projects in the growing city of Turku. This project has also allowed us to use our expertise in residential construction in accordance with environmental certifications, which we have previously implemented in both Turku and the Uusimaa region, says Santtu Saukkonen, Commercial Director at Aura Rakennus Länsi-Suomi.
