Our new name is Joo Group. Thanks and bye, Asuntoyhtymä!

With our sixth birthday coming up soon, we decided to say Joo (which means yes in Finnish) to a new name. Asuntoyhtymä is now called Joo Group.

In autumn 2021, we launched our rental apartment brand Joo Kodit. Joo felt right to us immediately. This simple word with its positive connotations was a perfect match to our attitude and culture: we have the courage to say joo – yes – to new opportunities, doing things together, and continuous development. After a while, we started to call ourselves the Joo team.

From a property company to a pioneer of carefree rental living

Asuntoyhtymä was founded in January 2017 by the Swedish property company Fastighets AB Balder and our CEO-to-date, Jaakko Niskanen. They still own the company today. At the start of November, Joo Group gets a new CEO, as Antti Niskanen moves to the role from his current position as Head of Sustainability. Jaakko Niskanen will stay on as the company’s board member and owner.

A lot has happened in the course of the last six years. We already have nearly 5600 completed Joo Kodit apartments and approximately 2000 more under construction. Our agile and bold approach hasn’t changed, though. As a property developer and owner, it’s always our principal goal to offer carefree living to our residents. While we used to outsource renting and other support services in our first years, we’re now proud to produce the vast majority of our services in-house. No wonder, then, that we already have nearly 70 people in the Joo team.

Joo – the future looks bright

Joo is an attitude that aims for carefree living, regardless of the everyday challenges we all face. When you don’t need to worry about the little things in life, the bigger things come easier, too. And that’s exactly what makes us ready to say Joo to new opportunities – including our new name.
