The Joo Kodit apartment rental brand, which promises carefree living, has teamed up with the online shop for timeless design, Finnish Design Shop. The result is three different interior design sets, which provide inspiration for furnishing a small home sustainably.

Joo Kodit wants to offer its residents not only carefree but also sustainable rental living. Until now, the drive for sustainability has produced energy efficient apartment complexes and neighbourhood services, which encourage residents to share and borrow instead of owning. Three interior design sets created in collaboration with Finnish Design Shop take Joo Kodit’s sustainability thinking one step further.

– We wanted to partner with Finnish Design Shop in particular, as we share the same values of sustainable development and corporate responsibility. Finnish Design Shop sells high quality products that stand the test of time, while also maintaining their resell value, says Joo Kodit’s Commercial Director Heta Kärki.

A choice of three interior design styles

The interior design sets, called Huoleton (carefree), Klassinen (classical) and Urbaani (urban), comprise key furniture for the home as well as textiles and interior design items to fine tune the look and feel. Huoleton celebrates colour, Klassinen relies on a timeless, soft style, and Urbaani combines comfort with clear, graphic lines.

– The aim was to create sets, which adapt to different styles and needs and follow their owner to the next home too. We’ve included classics as well as brand new design, Finnish Design Shop’s interior architect Maija Rasila says.

Sustainable purchases against throwaway culture

Joo Kodit and Finnish Design Shop encourage their customers to make thoughtful purchasing decisions that counteract throwaway culture. The sets created by the interior designers of Finnish Design Shop provide inspiration for furnishing the home sustainably, even if it’s compact in size. A young person moving out of the family home for the first time, for example, can choose a couple of favourite items from the sets to start off with.

– The interior design of the home is an ongoing project rather than something to be finished immediately. Buying something you like little by little also means making less impulse purchases. It’s worth investing most in the furniture you use the most, and complementing design items with some second hand gems, Rasila says.

The sets have been tailored for the compact Joo rental apartments, with quick delivery times and easy ordering in mind. All the items are sold online at Finnish Design Shop, and most are available immediately.

– Sometimes life changes quickly, and being able to furnish your new home with ease is part of carefree rental living, Heta Kärki concludes.
